Ahsek Novel

A rebel soul poet herself, Ahsek Novel is the first published writer/poet of Brown Sugar Promotions LLC and the first [spoken word] artist on the indie label Independent Grrl Recordings.

born Kesha Levon Johnson, Ahsek considers her sound or style as “alternative R&B” as her goal is “to bring poetry to life and to teach through artistic expression”. She published her first collection of poems with Brown Sugar Promotions LLC in 2010 as The Butterfly Experience: A Collection of Poems vol1 while releasing her first recordings as The Rogue Mixtape in December of 2013 and her full album, Ahsek Speaks vol1 in May 2014, independently of course.

Residing in California since she was a toddler, the 34 year old Ahsek Novel considers herself a Bay Area native by way of San Francisco. With a professional background in Business Management, Ahsek plans to continue her passion as a writer, poet and spoken word artist combing her grassroots activism and political flare to create “music” to support the neo-feminist movement.

Currently, Ahsek is promoting her latest book, The Corset: Poems That Bind vol1 released in February 2014, promoting her official single Replacement Drug – Amended and contributing to Green Afro Honey as a featured writer and model to illustrate “greening” the mind, body and soul and alternatively living in urban America as a woman of color.
